The reality: There is no known townhall ever held by Brianne Nadeau getting any feedback or explaining the rationale for changing the Comprehensive Plan land use map for 1617 U Street. And, there is no evidence the required impact studies were done to accompany these changes to the land use map.
In fact, a great many Ward One residents wrote to Councilmember Nadeau demanding she retract her last minute largely undiscussed surprise changes to DC’s Future Land Use Map in spring 2021. See letter here.
ANC1B opens for questions from the public — Courtney Stockland on Seaton Street: “[The project] is a runaway train, please press the brakes. As a community, we feel disenfranchised already.” “Split-zone is the sensible solution.” https://www.youtube.com/live/4tBTbNxMRw4?feature=share&t=4423
Ward One Councilmember Nadeau: “It hasn’t been decided yet if that site will be sold or leased.” “I’m pushing for a long-term lease. We will leverage that public land to ensure we get the most value for the public priorities.” “Its a very large site.” “We know we have to return the police and fire station there.” “To do that we have to consider building taller… it will have to be taller than it is now.” “This is public land and that there is a specific goal for this site.” https://www.youtube.com/live/4tBTbNxMRw4?feature=share&t=4514
